Animal Services consists of three animal control officers who patrol Edgecombe County and respond to calls from citizens dealing with domesticated animals. Animal Services’ daily operations are overseen by the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office. The Animal Services officers patrol the county Monday through Friday and are on call nights, weekends, and holidays to respond to emergency animal calls.
The Animal Shelter is located behind the old Edgecombe County Health Department at 2909 N Main St. in Tarboro.
The Board of Commissioners recently adopted changes to the Animal Services ordinance. Click here for a document showing the changes. You can also download a flyer that summarizes the main changes.
Additional changes were made effective February 3, 2020 on the section related to Inherently Dangerous Animals (formerly Wild and Exotic Animals).
