Notice of Public Hearing for Ordinance Amendment

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

proposed amendments to THE EDGECOMBE COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the Commissioner’s Room of the Administrative Building located at 201 St. Andrew Street, Tarboro, North Carolina. The purpose of this public hearing is to consider and act on a proposed amendment to Article II “State of Emergency” to add Section 8-37 “Restrictions on access to posted areas” and Section 8-38 “Restriction of Movement, activity” of the Edgecombe County Code of Ordinances.

The proposed amendment is intended to specify the authority of the Board of Commissioners to evacuate an area when it becomes necessary during a State of Emergency. North Carolina State Law does allow counties to exercise that as a restriction if it is specified in the county’s ordinance. Copies of the proposed amendment are on display for public inspection in the Office of County Manager, in the County Administration Building, Room 402 St. Andrew St., Tarboro, NC 27886 during regular business hours.

All parties interested are invited and urged to be present and make their views known. Anyone with a physical limitation or language barrier that will need special accommodations at the public hearing should call (252) 641-7834 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
